Provides supervision to staff responsible for coordinating the business operation activities of an assigned department. Solves complex business problems, enhance operations, and identifies opportunities to improve the department.  Proactively supports the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Associate’s degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.  Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field highly preferred.
  • Four (4) years administrative/secretarial or business operations experience.  Previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service focus, excellent written, verbal and time management skills.
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skill at typing 45 error-free words per minute.
  • Personal computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other Windows-based applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology may be preferred for some areas.


Supervises at least three administrative support staff to achieve effective and efficient services.  Actively participates in the interview process, training, performance appraisals and may provide disciplinary actions up to, and including, termination.

Responsible for the operational activities of assigned office, department or business project including supply maintenance, facilities management requests, networking with other departments and vendors as appropriate and other office needs as they arise.  Responsible for basic payroll or timekeeping activities, other record-keeping, human resources paperwork, organizational charts and other business documents.  Responsible for managing the performance improvement process for the office, department or business project assigned including the statistical reporting for departmental goal program(s), as required.

Responsible for assigned financial operations of assigned office, department or business project (budget preparation and monitoring, AP request and other financial responsibilities).

May serve on special projects, committees, or act as department representative as necessary.
