EXTERNAL SUMMARY

To work as an integral member a multidisciplinary team conducting parent focused interventions with families of infants and toddlers who are at risk of having an autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disability.  In accordance with the needs of the ages of the population served, the Behavioral Clinical Specialist 1 will provide clinical or research services for patients, assist in the orientation of new staff, and perform clinical and research duties as indicated for specific projects.    

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, speech communication or allied discipline.
  • Must have experience in the implementation of behavioral assessment/treatment programs with developmentally disabled population or population with behavior disorders.   
  • Must possess mastery in daily procedures, data collection, and treatment implementation including specific experience in managing and collecting behavioral data.
  • Knowledge of normal/abnormal growth and development throughout the age continuum required.
  • Theoretical understanding and philosophical appreciation for behavioral and or developmental intervention in a clinical setting.
  • Must possess strong organization and time management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks.  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent clinical and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist research and clinical staff in the implementation and or development of treatment protocols. Responsible for ensuring treatment protocols are carried out; Monitor the implementation of treatment and intervention procedures. 

Assist in the orientation of new staff/students to department procedures and data collection procedures.  Assist in the development of staff/student training programs. 

Conduct initial evaluation/screenings, as required, for specific programs.

Conduct training sessions for caretakers for implementation of treatment procedures.

Collect, develop and maintain documentation, records and reports for active cases.  Protocol dissemination – timely dissemination of protocols and revisions, management of protocols and reviews, appropriate review of protocol prior to distribution. 

Perform clinical duties as indicated for specific research projects.

Participate in fidelity maintenance and multidisciplinary activities. 

Assist in the development of unit activities.
