EXTERNAL SUMMARY

Participates as a member of the OP Rehabilitation multidisciplinary team in completing pre-screening assessments of prospective patients for optimal utilization. Maintains necessary documentation and communication with internal and external customers. To proactively support the efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Current Speech Language Pathology (Georgia) Licensure.
  • Master's Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology required
  • Minimum of (3) years of broad clinical treatment experience required.
  • Pediatric care and/or utilization review experience in multiple rehabilitation therapies strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years of auditing experience preferably with a healthcare organization or insurance company a plus.
  • Knowledge of Rehabilitation CPT codesModerate to expert computer skills
  • Working knowledge of the financial aspects of third party payers and reimbursement
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective decision-making /problem-solving skills, demonstration of creativity in problem-solving
  • Must possess strong analytical and customer service skills
  • Provides timely review of OP Rehabilitation Orders for the adequacy of order completion and clinical appropriateness of the service, utilizing a combination of clinical information such as rehabilitation protocols, screening criteria and third party information.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides timely review of OP Rehabilitation Orders for the adequacy of order completion and clinical appropriateness of the service, utilizing a combination of clinical information such as rehabilitation protocols, screening criteria and third party information.

Assesses special patient care needs for the Rehab visit and informs appropriate team leader prior to date of service.

Monitors and tracks Key Performance indicators for OP Rehab Schedulers and provide weekly and monthly reports to management

Performs quality assurance audits for OP Rehab schedules/order management to ensure compliance.

Maintains effective interaction/communication with referring physician offices, therapists, schedulers, Rehab Clinical Review team, IS staff, Coding staff, Rehab staff, Physician Liaisons, and peers, to facilitate the Rehabilitation utilization management process and to facilitate excellence in customer service.

Stays current on third party procedures and trends, and recommends/implements applicable process improvements or education needed by third parties (i.e. template changes, clinical value/necessity of therapy/service).

Identifies and coordinates training needs for team members and referring physicians.

Maintains Professional Development

Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of patient care.

Serves as a Clinical Resource to team members as necessary.

Supports performance improvement process for the department

Supports customer satisfaction processes for the department

Assists in maintaining the department budget within established fiscal guidelines.

Performs other responsibilities as required.
