Overview

The Chick-fil-A Financial Services Department is made up of many sub-departments that support Chick-fil-A Franchisees and Chick-fil-A, Inc. As an Accounting Summer Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Chick-fil-A through challenging and meaningful work while building your personal leadership brand, gaining accounting experience and preparing for a successful career.

By applying for the 2020 Accounting Summer Internship, applicants will automatically be considered for all positions listed below, and will be placed based on their skills, interests, and business need. When you submit your application, you will be asked which Accounting Team interests you most. Please rank your preference: 1 = most preferred and 6 = least preferred. We will make every effort to accommodate your preference based on available positions remaining on each team.

Responsibilities

Restaurant Accounting Intern:

* Exposure to a variety of private industry accounting needs
* Reconcile and research multiple general ledger accounts
* Audit monthly franchise fee data from restaurants
* Verify coding of cash disbursements
* Exposure to key leaders from various functional areas
* Perform special project work supporting operations, marketing, and new growth
* Gain accounting software systems experience (Oracle, etc.)

Corporate Financial Reporting Intern:

* Experience compiling financial statements according to GAAP
* Reconcile and research multiple general ledger accounts
* Audit corporate revenue streams
* Perform monthly accruals and recurring journal entries
* Assist in preparation of mid-year audit work papers
* Gain accounting software systems experience

Lease Accounting & Auditing Intern:

* Overview of team processes which includes audit, payment, and accounting of rent, property tax, and other occupancy costs
* Overview of the CFA Real Estate process and opportunity to meet staff involved in those processes
* Opportunity to process actual landlord invoices which involves reading/interpreting lease language and disputing incorrect charges
* Opportunity to work on cross-functional projects related to lease accounting

Fixed Asset Accounting & Property Tax Intern:

* Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset account and close out those accounts once the related project has been completed.
* Calculate and record fixed asset depreciation and appropriate retirements
* Validate existence of fixed asset through the reconciliation of multiple reports
* Track restaurant property tax liability from local assessment data and communicate to stake holders
* Partner with professionals across the organization to provide perspective for various initiatives

Restaurant Cash Management Accounting Intern:

* Gain a general understanding of the restaurant's monthly cash cycle
* Overview of the accounting systems utilized for cash management
* Assist with daily deposit reconciliation and verification for all incoming and outgoing payments and verification of sales
* Monthly GL balancing and research
* Payroll and vendor check research
* Assist with special projects

Philanthropic Financial Services Intern:

* Exposure to a variety of private operating foundation accounting aspects
* Reconcile and research multiple general ledger accounts
* Assist with weekly camp store deposits and verification of sales
* Verify coding of disbursements
* Interview key leaders from various functional areas
* Gain accounting software systems experience (Oracle, CCER, etc.)
* Assist with special projects

Minimum Qualifications

* Currently enrolled junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting (Must be returning to school Fall 2020)
* Strong academic track record proven with GPA minimum of 3.2
* Computer skills including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook
* Demonstrated leadership
