Job Description

The Office of Family and Community Engagement in Education(FACE2) creates opportunities for parents, schools, families, and communitiesto work together to create meaningful partnerships that ultimately lead tostudent achievement.

The Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Manager willspecialize in working directly with schools, families, and communities tocultivate a generational learning experience that empowers educators, parentsand community stakeholders to sustain family engagement and improve studentperformance in their Network. The FACE Manager will represent CPS in a positivemanner and implement cross-functional strategies in the areas of Family andCommunity Engagement, Title 1 PAC/PLN, and Student Achievement.

The FACE Manager willbe held accountable for:

* Organizingmonthly Title 1 PAC/PLN meetings at Parent University sites to provide parentswith leadership skills to help improve student academics.
* Proactivelyoutreach and engage parents and community members to attend Title 1 PAC/PLNmonthly meetings.
* Collaboratingwith CPS departments and external partners to provide content-based andresearch-based parent workshops.
* AssistingNetwork Chiefs and school principals in channeling engagement in ways thatsupport and add value to student achievement.
* Understandingfederal and state law in relation to Title I, Part A Parent Involvement, andLocal School Councils to ensure the District's compliance with State Board ofEducation rules and the District's parental involvement policy.
* Buildingrelationships and establishing ongoing communication with principals to helpincrease their school's parent engagement efforts and student achievement.
* Attendingcommunity events/festivals/meetings/workshops facilitated by schools, communityorganizations, and elected officials, that help drive student achievement.
* DevelopNetwork database of stakeholders, community leaders, business owners, andparents that will provide support to District Initiatives.
* Activelyparticipating in district-wide initiatives and mandates including monthly BoardMeetings.
* Providingexcellent customer service experience for parents, schools, and communitymembers to foster a collaborative learning environment.
* Attendingmandatory capacity building trainings facilitated by Executive Leadership includingcomprehensive Title 1, Community Engagement and data management trainings.
* Organizing,analyzing, and reporting on school- and community- level data as established byExecutive Leadership's metrics and goals.

Type of Education:

* Bachelor'sdegree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree highlypreferred.

Type of Experience and Number of Years:

* Minimumof 4 years in community engagement, education policy, and/or public affairs.Experience in building community partnerships, facilitating trainings, developingboth high-level and parent-friendly presentations, and crisis management.

Other Requirements:

* Evening and weekend workhours are probable
* Must adhere toPerformance Guidelines established by Executive Leadership
* Other duties assigned byExecutive Leadership

Residency Requirement:

* As acondition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees arerequired to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago withinsix months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout theiremployment with the district.
