Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY Work under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and the pharmacist(s) on duty.# Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the inventory, and maintaining patient records.# All work is verified by a registered pharmacist.# Assist the department and patient care areas in identification and resolution of patient safety issues related to medication use.# # CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.####### Procure and distribute drug orders per physician request, pharmacist request or prearranged work assignment.# Prepare intravenous admixture or other sterile products including chemotherapy accurately using aseptic technique. Package unit dose medications according to policy.# Replenish medications in floor stock and patient care areas and automation systems accurately and rotates stock to ensure use before expiration.# Fill orders, kits, carts and requisitions accurately 2.####### Receive, inventory, and distribute controlled substances according to legal guidelines.# Check inventory for adequate supply and outdated items 3.####### Answer the phone and requests at the window and make deliveries to patient care areas.# Keep pharmacy areas clean, neat and well organized and equipment maintained. #Maintain professional appearance and attitude, following applicable dress codes 4.####### Keep pharmacy records filed and complete.# Process patient charges and credits. 5.####### Trouble shoot and correct automation system problems and refers appropriately 6.####### Assist in processes for the purchasing and receiving of items from wholesalers and other vendors in the absence of pharmacy buyer.# Restock medication and IV areas 7.####### Participate in hospital and department performance improvement activities.# Complete medication storage area inspections in a timely manner.
