You're dedicated, and that means your time as much as your effort. This 10-week, 40hr/week internship offers exposure to real-world business. As a Spectrum Intern, you'll be essential to two teams - your respective department and your Intern peer group. Partner with other accomplished and dedicated interns on research and cross-functional projects. You'll have an opportunity contribute real value and meaning to the larger organization.

Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You'll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference, webinars, community service, and final presentations. As part of a peer community, you'll contribute to cross-functional group projects, and should be ready to take on new projects as they come up.

What you can expect in this role

Catalog Management - One of the Field Ops Procurement team's responsibilities is the management of ~25K parts on catalog accounting for nearly 1B in spend. The following projects will include the assessment/validation of items offered on our catalog as well as the improvement of our reporting capabilities.

a. Assessment/Validation of Items on Catalog - With ~25K parts on catalog, and price changes occurring as often as quarterly, pricing and lead time discrepancies between what is stated in our contracts with that of what is listed on catalogs occasionally occur. Auditing and identifying these discrepancies is crucial in ensuring that we are not overpaying for materials or miscalculating warehouse deliveries. The intern will analyze invoice data from key suppliers to ensure compliance with contracted terms while also tracking supplier performance.

b. Improving Reporting Capabilities - Charter's Procure-To-Pay and ERP system readily captures thousands of transactions every day that is not readily presented in a format that is helpful for sourcing managers to make key sourcing decisions. Using raw data from these systems, the intern will help develop meaningful excel reports that provide deep insights into purchasing transactions and potential saving opportunities.

c. "Mini" RFx - Procurement will look to engage the intern in an RFx process where they have the opportunity shadow a Procurement Manager through requirements gathering, RFx issuance, negotiations, analysis and award. This will provide the intern a look into Charter's procurement process, allowing them to think strategically throughout the process and provide them the opportunity to bring new ideas and perspective. Supplier Management - The Field Ops Procurement Team has hundreds of suppliers in the categories of Construction, Installation, Locating, Engineering, Warehousing, Asset Disposal, Materials, and Distribution. Databases are used to house general contact information, contract designations, operating locations, spend, and a variety of other pertinent information for these suppliers.

a. Supplier Database - The intern will further develop this database to include additional data fields that are critical for day-to-day operations such as contracted payment terms, supplier operating locations, material offerings, and contract references.

b. Supplier Scorecard -The Field Ops team is interested in developing standardized scorecards for a variety of service categories that can be completed on a quarterly basis. The intern will help develop these scorecards by working with key Charter stakeholders across the company, and will facilitate the scoring for selected suppliers for Q2 2020.
