We make high quality, highly engineered products that improve people’s lives, advance medical research and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable world.  Chart's Ball Ground, GA facility is currently seeking candidates interested in the position of Validation and Test Engineer.


This is a hands on position that provides technical expertise to support various product development and production efforts.  This engineer will be tasked testing and validating new product developments and continuous product improvement efforts against system specifications.  In addition to product validation, this engineer may provide support to production in troubleshooting manufacturing related issues.  This engineer will support all available products lines including both the cryogenic based technologies and the gas separation lines.  The day to day activities for this engineer may include, but not limited to, testing new product prototypes and components, designing and fabricating test fixtures, troubleshooting, and writing validation protocols and test reports. 


This position is hands on but will also have managerial duties assigned with it.  The engineer will manage the day to day operation of the prototyping laboratory including the management of lab technicians.  This position will be based out of the Canton/Ball Ground location of Chart, which is approximately 30 minutes north of the greater Atlanta, GA area. 


What your Day to Day Activities will be:

  • Perform validation and testing for new and existing products against system specifications
  • Design test fixtures and test equipment as needed for product validation and testing
  • Assist in fabrication of prototypes and support of new product development
  • Assist in troubleshooting and determining corrective measures for prototype designs and quality defects
  • Write, review and publish test procedures, protocols, and reports
  • Provide direction and management of laboratory resources and technicians
  • Support and assist operational production as needed
  • Interface with various departments in coordinating technical information relating to specific projects or regarding quality issues
  • Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.



Educational and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience or 7+ years of relevant experience


Preferred Experience:

  • Medical Device and/or Cryogenics background strongly preferred
  • Must possess a working knowledge of computers, including MS Word, Excel, and Office Suite programs
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software preferred (Solidworks preferred)
  • Previous experience with technical writing preferred
  • Previous experience with troubleshooting equipment or product
  • Strong organizational skills / demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects
  • Experience with data acquisition equipment
  • Understanding of Six Sigma principles or statistical knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical schematics and troubleshooting preferred
  • Awareness and understanding of Company quality standards, capital equipment, procurement, FMEA, APQP, ISO 9001 knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Experience with general hand tools (calipers, drill press, power tools, etc.)
  • Basic machining and fabrication experience preferred
  • Must be able to work both independently and in team settings.



Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting and occasional crawling.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
