Job Description

Position Overview

Hornets Sports & Entertainment is looking for a college student to serve as an intern for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department. The CSR intern will serve as support and administrator to the department by assisting with day-to-day and long term community initiatives. The intern will also gain hands-on experience planning and executing major events, maintaining community/corporate partnerships and working with the charitable foundation of the Charlotte Hornets.

This is a non-paid internship, a stipend is provided for transportation, food and parking expenses. You will need to able to work 20-40 hours per week. You are required to receive academic credit. Hours will include most arena events, throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and/or weekends, including Community Events and Hornets games.

The Spring 2020 program runs from January 9th, 2020 to April 17th, 2020.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Take role in planning and coordinating community initiatives - including but not limited to Military Care, hospital visits and game day donation drive
* Coordinate and fulfill community donation requests and nonprofit event sponsorship requests
* Assist the Charlotte Hornets Foundation with planning and executing annual fundraisers
* Database management of donation requests and autographed memorabilia inventory
* Assist with coordinating player appearance and fan experiences

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

* Must be able to receive academic credit.
* Must be able to work 25-30 hours a week; in addition to home games and special events.
* Must have access to reliable transportation daily, during office hours.
* Positive attitude
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Passion to work in the sport industry and community outreach is preferred
* Willingness to work extended hours (i.e. game nights and special events)
* Ability to successfully multi-task and maintain organization
* Self-starter, creative, and adaptable
* Proficient in MS Office applications
