Job Description

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

The Emergency Staff Assistant II acts as the department receptionist. She/He answers and relays physician, patient and other department telephone calls, accepts and relays communications via fax and in-person. She/He maintains a clean and orderly work station. She/He maintains adequate supplies, maintains patient records, obtains previous patient visit records and eKGs, tracks and follows up in a timely fashion with addendum to medical records and performs duties as appropriate. She/He maintains competency skills including the ability to interact with patients of diverse cultural backgrounds and ages.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.


* Two years experience in a medical clerical setting or successful completion of an approved course in hospital clerical responsibilities.

* Must possess a minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or a comparable system (specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills).

* Applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist.
