MEMs Performance and Materials Characterization Internship

FormFactor hosts an annual 12 week internship as part of our commitment to growing and developing the next generation of technical talent. Successful candidates must be available to start this program on Monday, May 22nd or Monday June 19th and commit to all 12 weeks of the program.

Job Description:

In this position, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with MEMS alloy characterization and support fatigue and high temperature micro-tensile testing. Responsibilities will include:

* Perform micro-tensile testing on established testing platform to characterize and optimize electrodeposited metallic composites (NiCo, PdCo, Cu, Au, Rh, etc102) with respect to mechanical properties (i.e. Young's modulus, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and ductility).
* Refine and improve associated documentation and testing methods. Provide input and recommendations for future materials testing and characterization.

Job Requirements:

Education Requirements: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Physics

* B.S. Candidate: Minimum 3 years coursework
* MS or PhD Candidate

Candidates must have knowledge and competences in the following areas (2+ years):

* Materials Science and Engineering

The preferred candidate will have the following skills and expertise:

* Hands on mechanical testing (Tensile, Cyclic Fatigue, Relaxation) using Instron Mechanical test platform or similar
* Design of Experiments
* JMP and/or Excel-macro experience
* Scanning electron microscope (SEM) experience
* Excellent communication skills
