Job Summary
Expert Clinician who works in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate a holistic plan of care for the patient/family. Clinical leader who influences patient care provided by others through policies and practice standards that guide the delivery of care at the organizational level.

Essential Functions
  • Integrates knowledge of disease and medical treatments in a holistic assessment of persons while focusing on the differential diagnosis of illness or wellness experiences.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates population based programs of care by integrating nursing interventions and medical treatments, as appropriate to enhance patient outcomes cost effectively.
  • Serves as a leader/consultant/mentor/change agent in advancing the practice of nursing to achieve quality, cost-effective patient outcomes within the specialty population and as appropriate across populations.
  • Assesses, plan, implements and evaluates formal and informal educational opportunities and materials for nursing teammate and patients/families in area of specialty.
  • Leads multidisciplinary groups in designing and implementing innovative alternative solutions that address system problems and/or patient care issues occurring across the full continuum of care.
  • Supports nursing research to promote clinical knowledge development and research-based clinical practice.
  • Serves on department/hospital committees and participates in governance activities.
  • Interprets and analyzes data.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to handle fast-paced environment, moving independently from one location to another frequently. Must have the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing. Must be able to work rapidly, make sound decisions within limited time constraints, and carry out responsibilities in a professional manner with a limited amount of supervision. Must be able to deal with teammate, managers, administration and other members of the health care in a courteous and professional manner at all times as well as have the ability to work cooperatively/effectively with other hospital teammates on an individual and team basis. Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds of weight.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of North Carolina. MSN required. Certification in specialty area desired. Teaching program development and multiple project management experience. Clinical experience in area of specialty for a minimum of 3-5 years. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to age specific issues and data reflective of the patient's status.
