Job Function:

Enterprise Application Directorate of Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a talented and passionate software engineer to join a friendly team of developers and participate in crafting state of the art software to be used by students, faculty, and administrators of the university. You will help design, develop and maintain software in the Student Information Systems (SIS) arena and enjoy witnessing their creation be used by thousands in the campus community.

In addition to SIS, we are responsible for many other enterprise level application including Web Content Management System (Web Opps) and Grant Management. Our team has been achieving great success through teamwork, innovation, cooperation, and accountability. We use Agile Software Development methodology for developing backend and user interfaces based on web technologies.

We are looking for a dedicated individual with strong oral/written communications, organizational skills and the ability to participate in cross-function teams. You are deeply effective independently but also thrive with the team. You are excited for new challenges and can adapt to the business needs but not lose focus on delivering results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Design and develop high quality software for Student Information System
* Install, integrate, maintain 3rd party applications
* Maintain existing Java or C code
* Participate in elaboration, functional, and architectural meetings

Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields
* At least 1 year experience as a software developer or systems analyst required with a strong knowledge of java. Three years experience preferred.
* Hands on experience with Java or C applications, relational databases and database administration, web development technologies in a Java environment, batch scripting languages, Windows/Linux/Unix operating system.
* Experience with Oracle Database PL/SQL Development, Tomcat/Apache, Swing, GWT, Agile Development Methodology ( Scrum, Kanban, etc.) preferred.
* Experience in higher education administrative computing services preferred.
