Job Description

Support Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Responsible for performing installation, upgrading, testing, maintenance, and customization of vendor applications and web/integration services on a variety of hardware platforms.  Gathers requirements, performs analysis, develops and maintains new programs and applications. Serves as a primary liaison between TSG groups, clients and vendors and as a mentor to others in the department.



Minimum Qualifications Required

 

Education: High school degree required. Associates/Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare business or equivalent experience required.  

Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant experience.

-          Proficient in one or more programming languages, Java or Perl preferred.

-          Proficient with HL7 or SQL.

-          Proficient with Advanced Unix/Linux or Microsoft Windows commands and shell or batch scripts.

-          Experience with table creation and structure for multiple databases as required.

-          Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Office, Project, Visio, SharePoint.

-     Preferred experience writing SQL on Oracle and SWL server, Epic reporting database, installing S/W on Unix and Windows Servers, Filenet/Sovera, Epic interconnect technologies, and with IIS and Apache

-     Understanding of claims and remit processing is desired.

 

 

 

 

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Maintain application vendor certifications as needed.  ITIL V3 Certification preferred. Valid VA driver's license.

 

Other Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Requires rotating on-call responsibilities and carrying a pager/cell phone. 
  • Position requires irregular and weekend work hours, with occasional overnight travel.
  • Presents ideas and instructions clearly, verbally and in writing, using appropriate presentation tools as needed.

  • Provides timely resolution tocustomer issues.
  • Demonstrates the ability tobe a team member by working successfully with internal and external clients. 
  • Plans and works onjoint projects, and coordinates with others to achieve objectives.
  • Assesses skills within a team and worksto build on individual strengths.
  • Serves as a member of multiple project teams, taking direction from leadership.
  • May serve in a lead role within a complex project orsub-project under the direction of leadership.
  • Serves as technical and professional role model. 
  • Does not breach privacy and confidentiality of patients or staff. 
  • Demonstrates accountability for self-development by providing inputinto personal annual skills assessment and development plan.  Completes annual professional development andrequired in-service education.
