Uses customer service skills in interactions with physicians, patients, families, staff members and community at large. Works within the Emergency Department environment. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and unsafe environment. Frequently exposed to high levels of stress and emergency situations. Individual must be flexible and adapt rapidly to changing situations. High physical effort is required for moving and extricating patients, as well as, long work hours.
Required
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical program in paramedic studies preferred.
Experience: One year EMT-I or Paramedic experience required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certified in the State of Viginia as an EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic and maintains National Registered status (preferred). AHA BLS - HCP, and ACLS required. PALS, Haz Mat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS or BTLS required within one year from date of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification status as required by State and National standards.
