Job Description



 The Department of Clinical Health Professions at Jefferson College of Health Sciences is accepting applications for a clinical preceptor/instructor for its Emergency Services program.


Supports Carilion's and Jefferson College of Health Science's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Primarily works with students in the clinical environment (ED and/or ICU).  Plans, implements and evaluates student experiences in the hospital setting. Serves as ES program representative to hospital clinical departments.  Educates students in all aspects of Emergency Services.  The successful candidate will receive faculty rank according to education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education: Bachelor's degree required.  Master's and Doctoral prepared candidates will receive preference.

Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience functioning as a registered nurse in an emergency department or critical care unit environment.  Experience as an EMS provider highly desirable.  Experience in teaching college level classes both in traditional classroom and distance education formats preferred.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:  Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic highly desirable with additional certifications in CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, GEMS, and AMLS with instructor credentials preferred.

Schedule: 9-month appointment.  Clinical schedule flexible to meet the needs of the students and program.
