We are looking for a passionate Maintenance Mechanic who wants to help the world thrive!

Job Description:

This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing and performing preventative and predictive maintenance on equipment for a salt production facility. Maintenance Mechanic is an IAM Union position.

Primary Accountabilities include:

* Maintain, repair, and perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) rounds on processing and packing equipment such as baggers, palletizers, stretch wrappers, screw conveyors, and bucket elevators
* Maintain, repair, and perform PM and PdM rounds on all production equipment such as pumps, fans, centrifuges, piping/valve systems, mobile equipment, tractors, pickups, heavy mobile equipment, conveyors, mixers, and miscellaneous processing equipment etc.
* Utilize precision maintenance craft skills
* Perform welding and basic fabrication.

Secondary Accountabilities include:

* Read prints, understand task symbols, and read operation manuals
* Assist with inventory and parts as needed
* Troubleshoot electro-mechanical controls

Ideal candidate should have:

* Experience with predictive maintenance technologies.
* Minimum two years of experience as a machinist, maintenance mechanic, and/or millwright.
* Ability to distinguish between proactive and reactive maintenance
* Experience with the standard methods, principles, practices, tools, and equipment in a minimum of three (3) of the following maintenance trades: Welding, Pipe Fitting, Fabrication, Heavy Equipment (loaders, backhoes, dozers, etc.), Rigging Systems (chain falls, beam clamps, slings, etc.), Power Transmission Systems, Mechanical Maintenance, Automotive Maintenance, Pump Maintenance (centrifugal, air, positive displacement, vertical), General Industrial Maintenance, Bulk Handling Equipment Maintenance (conveyors, screeners, washers, feeders, bins), Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Precision Alignment.

Required:

* Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
* Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.
* Must be able to read/write English
* Basic computer skills
* Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces
* Must be able to perform maintenance trades including gearbox and bearing, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic.
* Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
* Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.
* Ability to work in elevated areas
* Must be able to operate machinery
* Must be able to operate heavy equipment
* Ability to work overtime
* Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

Preferred:

* High School diploma or higher degree as a prefer a Technical degree or equivalent in a maintenance-related field.
* Able to perform maintenance trades including machinist, welding, pipe fitting, and fabrication, rigging systems, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance.
* Previous experience with MRO (Maintenance Repair Ops) and/or MRP (Material Requirement Planning).
* Prior job experience in a production or plant environment.
