Care Initiatives has a great opportunity for new or recent college grad in West Des Moines that offers a great mix of accounting, finance, and training functions. Our Financial Consultant position offers a great variety of duties and collaborates with our Business Office staff.

This full-time position is hands on and travels to 22 of our Iowa locations, most are located West of I-35. If you have an accounting / finance degree and enjoy working with people - this is a great opportunity for you.

Act as a resource person for facility's office personnel and for facility management by providing professional accounting expertise. Authority to counsel and train office managers on essential job accountability.


* Must be 18 years of age or older
* Functional literacy in English
* Insurable by Care Initiatives' auto insurance carrier


* Four year baccalaureate degree in accounting, finance or related business field required.
* Long-term care accounting experience preferred
* Valid Iowa driver's license


* Knowledge of applicable state/federal regulations and basics of accepted accounting standards


* Long-term care accounting experience preferred


* Familiarity with Microsoft software
* Ability to work independently in organizing, scheduling and work completion
* Functional literacy in written and spoken English
* Proficient interpersonal relationships and communication skills
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the organization
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
* Ability to deal with problems in different situations and trouble-shoot problems that arise


* Perform internal control and audit functions in specifically assigned facilities related to each facility's financial data.
* Reconcile Accounts Receivable.
* Provide supplemental training to facility office managers and other office personnel regarding accounting policies, procedures, forms, computer programs and applications, and related areas.
* Responsible for month end procedures and facility reconciliations.
* Analyze, evaluate, and respond to State Medicaid and Managed Care audit findings by collecting supporting documentation and corresponding with DIA.
* Review and analyze other facility financial information data as assigned by management.
* Analyze and evaluate operations audit functions, to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of personnel.
* Analyze general ledger accounts in the home office as needed.
* Provide assistance to facility office personnel with Medicaid/Managed Care eligibility application and re-eligibility process with each Medicaid resident.
* Consult with office personnel on a proactive initiation of resident eligibility application for any potential future Medicaid recipient.
* Actively participate in the pre-billing processes to Medicaid/MCOs.
