American Funds Training and Development (AFT&D) is an integral part of American Funds Servicing Group designing and delivering training that supports our associates’ professional development as they deliver best in class customer service.  AFT&D is co-located with our business partners in Irvine, CA, San Antonio, TX, Indianapolis, IN, and Hampton Roads, VA associates enabling us to partner on the ground with each of our business partners.   

 

AFT&D (Indianapolis, Indiana), is seeking a creative, tech-savvy an Instructional Design Manager with experience building learner-centric, performance-based learning solutions that include application and customer interaction simulations. The Manager Instructional Design will also manage a team of other Instructional Designers, to develop and maintain training programs that support AFSG associates throughout Capital Group. If you are passionate about adult learning, have rubber meets the road instructional design (classroom, web based, simulation, collaboration, etc.) skills and have great people management experience, then this job is for you.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages or leads Training and Development (T&D) projects and initiatives
    • Leads American Funds projects with cross company, cross site impact.
    • Manages project teams; assesses performance, coaches, develops, and provides feedback to project team members.
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of project success measures.
    • May lead instructional design projects; defines scope and manages projects, seeks approvals and coordinates as needed with stakeholders.
  • Analyzes and evaluates training and development needs
    • Conducts needs analysis to determine training and development needs (e.g., smaller scope projects) using a variety of methods including interviews, focus groups, surveys and data analysis.
    • Analyze, interpret and act on feedback– use data to improve the learner experience, help the team experiment and learn from mistakes and build on successes

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in adult learning, learning technology, communication or education, or other degree with relevant job experience and certifications.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ work experience in developing, deploying and measuring blended learning solutions. Familiar with SCRUM / agile development methods applied to learning design
  • Expertise in technology supported learning; experienced with content authoring and LMS (for example, Lectora, Captivate, Storyline and SuccessFactors, but also familiar with emerging trends).
  • Excellent communication skills and editing for the purpose of project management, knowledge transfer, associate personal and skill development

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, and content-specific certifications as appropriate (e.g. CPLP, CPT, PMP, etc.)
  • Experience with large scale adoption/change management initiatives
