Capital Fixed Income Investors (CFII), part of the Capital Group Companies, is seeking a trader for its high yield corporate bond desk in New York.  The trader will work closely with senior traders in Los Angeles on a daily basis.  We have an experienced team of 25 traders in Los Angeles, London, Singapore and New York.  CFII has been managing fixed-income strategies since 1973 and has over $280bn in fixed income assets under management ($35bn of which is in high yield).  Growing our fixed-income business is a high priority for the Capital Group.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

  • Work with senior traders in Los Angeles in all aspects of their daily responsibilities including; trade execution, writing/distributing market commentary, facilitating communication amongst traders/PMs and analyst
  • Generate trade ideas, assess relative value and provide portfolio recommendations
  • Participate in daily/weekly investment meetings and engage in investment discussions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the dealer community
  • Liaise with operations groups re portfolio construction, trade settlement and compliance issues
  • Partner with internal technology groups and third party vendors to build, enhance and maintain trading analytic tools
  • Participate in ad hoc projects

A successful candidate will be self-driven, demonstrate a passion for fixed income markets/trading and embrace Capital Group’s core values including but not limited to, integrity, collaboration and accountability.


  • Minimum 3– 5 years of trading experience on a well-regarded high yield corporate bond desk
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates good judgment and ability to work semi-autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and financial technology skills (Bloomberg, MarketAxess, Excel)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in business, economics or other quantitative major
  • Ability to work in Los Angeles for initial 3-6 month onboarding period
