Capital Group’s Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (SS&P) is a newly formed group of 40+ dedicated sourcing and procurement leaders that drive strategic business initiatives.  We are on an exciting multi-year transformational journey to continuously improve capabilities, processes and technologies for our group.

Role summary:

Under general direction, leads vendor management practices for SS&P and across the enterprise.  Supports business unit led vendor management efforts and provides subject matter expertise.  Develops and maintains vendor third party risk program implementation in collaboration with Global Risk Management group. 

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:

  • Leads vendor and third party risk management for SS&P
  • Consults within Strategic Sourcing teams on vendor management practices and third party risk
  • Manages relationships with associates at all levels engaged in vendor and risk management across the enterprise
  • Prepares and delivers communications and metrics related to the success of the vendor management and risk programs
  • Develops and mentors associates at all levels on vendor and risk management

Skills/qualifications:

  • 15 to 20 years of experience in vendor management, vendor third party risk, strategic sourcing, policy and guideline implementation, process analysis and improvement, process gap analysis, recommendation development and presentation, change management and program management; experience within financial management/asset management industry preferred
  • BA or BS degree in supply chain, information technology or business administration; MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated experience of designing, launching and maintaining an enterprise-wide vendor management program and supporting the launch of a third party risk transformation
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in spend categories including but not limited to consulting services, professional services (e.g. accounting, auditing etc.), banking and custodial services, outsourced labor and technology services.
  • PMP project management and CPSM professional in supply management certifications preferred; knowledge of process improvement, LEAN, six sigma and other improvement methodologies a plus
  • Ability to focus on results and lead through ambiguity and a  track record of driving operational improvements to support business strategies, able to lead/influence organizational change
  • Ability to engage, communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organization and act as a key facilitator for change by understanding, adjusting and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement
