- Troubleshoot, investigate, analyze, and solve PeopleSoft software problems as identified by end users.
- Apply Common Management System (CMS) delivered updates and fixes to development databases; work with end users to test and debug updates prior to applying to production.
- Project management CMS upgrades and implementations (Campus Solutions, Student Module, Human Resources and Finance)
- Assist end users as they implement PeopleSoft-delivered functionality as approved by CMS.
- Assist end users with development of more efficient processes based on application and/or business requirements.
- Work with third-party vendors and end users to implement bolt-ons that improve PeopleSoft's functionality.
- Write or tweak queries in PeopleSoft and reports in SQR per requests from end users.
- Write SQLs to resolve issues in data integrity.
- Design and develop customizations to meet Cal Maritime's specific requirements consistent with business requirements and CMS constraints.
- Project manages CMS upgrades and implementations (PeopleTools, PeopleSoft, and Oracle).
- Monitor regular conference calls for Human Resources and Campus Solution modules (known collectively as the Human Capital Management suite, or HCM) and Common Finance System; ensure appropriate end users are aware of agenda topics; follow up CMS announcements so Cal Maritime remains in compliance.
- When requested by end users, design and document functional business specifications based on business requirements and best practices.
- Act as security administrator for Human Capital Management (HCM) and CFS PeopleSoft and for the CFS Data warehouse.
- Working closely with the ISO, review PeopleSoft security requests; develop new roles and permissions lists as required following best practices; assist with audits; participate in monthly CFS Security conference calls.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to maintain user security access to PeopleSoft based upon approved job responsibility, position changes, job reassignments, separations

- The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation.
- The person holding this position is considered a -mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with course work in information technology, business information systems, or a related field OR equivalent training and applied experience.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to translate business processes and requirements into system specifications.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze user requests for complex functional maintenance.
- Possess a proactive work ethic and understanding of problems from a broad interactive perspective.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- Proficient in PeopleSoft HCM application software, productivity tools, databases, and utilities including but not limited to: Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL, PeopleCode, Stored Statements, PeopleSoft PeopleTools, Application Designer, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Process Scheduler, SQR, Crystal and BI Publisher
- In-depth knowledge of:
1. Systems analysis and development, applications programming, and database analysis.
2. Translating application requirements into user-friendly systems and applications.
- Thorough knowledge of:
1. Application software, productivity tools, databases, and utilities.
2. Database design and management, and relational database theory.
3. Security issues involved in maintaining and safeguarding institutional data.
- Working knowledge of:
1. System/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements.
2. LDAP directory and authentication mechanisms such as CAS and Shibboleth.
