THE UNIVERSITY: California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) is a comprehensive university serving the San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Economics is housed in the College of Business and Economics at California State University, East Bay. It has 10 full-time faculty, 2 part-time faculty, about 90 undergraduate majors, and 20 Master's students. The Department serves teaching needs in the Economics degree programs (BS, MS), and in the business administration programs (BSBA, MBA).

The Economics Department seeks an assistant professor. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda and teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate (Masters level) courses, including online courses, to both economics and business administration students. Fields of particular interest include economic history, health economics, and applied econometrics, but strong candidates in other applied fields will also be considered.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Duties include primarily teaching online undergraduate courses, pursuing an active research program, and service, including engaging in major and career advising. The candidate will work with other faculty in the department to expand and develop the online curriculum and must work on the Hayward campus at least 2 days per week.

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester, 2019


Candidates are required to have a PhD in Economics or a related area. The ideal candidate will be able to provide evidence of exceptional teaching skills particularly in the online environment, an ongoing program of research, and experience working with diverse populations. Candidates should demonstrate experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or community service that has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
