Job Description

Designs and develops LMS student engagement databases and related applications. Maintains and enhances the campus portal platform. Administers and maintains web and database servers. Participates in web and database projects both within Information Technology and in support of university departments. Designs and integrates a variety of web applications with the campus portal. Evaluates the efficiency of existing programs in meeting current and future user needs. Other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field. Two years of relevant full-time experience or the equivalent part-time experience. Eight years of relevant full-time experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

Experience designing and maintaining the Student Involvement database and other student activities databases with the ability to integrate data with other systems. Possesses a foundation in and has experience designing and practicing N-Tier Architectures web development including database design, SQL and database stored procedure programming, and live web database applications. Ability to write and modify code using ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, LINQ, ADO.NET and Entity Framework. Experience using software development IDEs like, Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Business Intelligence and SQL Server Data tools. Experience developing and managing reports with SQL Server Reporting Service. Ability to write and use Web-based programming languages including HTML5, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, with knowledge and skill in ASP.NET, MVC, WCF, Web API and REST architecture. Understanding of and experience using HTTP/HTTPS, ASP.NET Web API, and SOAP, REST and web services. Knowledgeable on cross-platform issues such as the limitations and constraints of HTML and JavaScript. Understanding of all aspects of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies. Experience with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) administration, configuration, and authentication. Ability to work independently to design consistent database and web application solutions while adhering to deadlines. Demonstrated competency in applying standard and non-standard technology applications and exploring and adapting changing technology. Independently applies technical judgment, recognizes problems, uses reasoning and logic to establish possible causes, interprets and applies theories and principles, generates alternative solutions, and implements a plan of action for the best resolution. Ability to be proactive, anticipate outcomes and consequences of different approaches and make modifications to action plans. Assists other in completing assignments and provides work direction and training to others on new skills and procedures. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work as a member of a team. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Two to three years of experience in application programming. Understands key design documentation principles and wireframes prototyping creation for web interfaces. Experience maintaining, securing, troubleshooting, and updating Windows Server 2008/2012 operating systems and SQL Server 2008/2012. Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio and integration with Team Foundation Server. Special Working Conditions May require weekend, evening and early morning hours.
