Job Description

What You'll Get to Do:

CACI is looking for Junior Robotics Electromechanical Systems Engineers to work with NASA robotic and spacecraft systems in support of our Nation's space program at NASA / Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Candidates should have great interest in robotics, spacecraft systems, electronics, sensors, and effectors, enjoy working with hardware and software, have had an outstanding academic career, and most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation's exploration of space.

This work involves development of hardware and software for electromechanical systems involving spacecraft projects and space-based robotics including humanoids. The candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas: Embedded Systems Hardware Design and Software Development, FPGA Hardware Design Analog Design Sensing and Instrumentation Design, Digital Design (for implementation on FPGAs), PCB design. Experience with signal integrity or thermal analysis Electrical system testing, integration, and debugging Power systems and batteries Electromechanical power conversion (motors, solenoids, etc.) would also be great.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.

More About the Role:

* Design and development of integrated hardware / software solutions for robotics and space subsystems.
* Development of real time Embedded software.
* Development of firmware and FPGA based solutions with interface to higher level OS needs.
* Analysis of technical documentation.
* Validation of the developed software and hardware interfaces.
* Analysis and Documentation of the validation results.
* Verification and test activities for developed solutions.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

* Must be able to obtain NACI security clearance
* Must be a U.S. Citizen. B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines required. 0 to 7 years of experience in engineering environment.
* Experience programming in C, C++, Embedded Systems, FPGA.
* Ability to use standard lab equipment: oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer.
* Experience with Electrical breadboard prototyping, circuit analysis, and digital design in VHDL.
* Experience with Linux.
* Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
* Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
* Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

* M.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related disciplines with 0-5 years of experience.
* Xilinx FPGA Development using VHDL.
* Embedded device firmware development.
* Python programming.
* General understanding of C/C++ compiler usage and the build process Software and/or logic design and unit testing.
* Digital design in VHDL Analog circuit simulation Use of basic hand and machine tools (drill, bandsaw, etc.) .
* Basic through hole and surface mount soldering.
* Ability to use standard lab equipment, e.g., oscilloscope, multi-meter, logic analyzer.
