Job Description

The Transmission System Planning Consultant and/or Engineer should have knowledge regarding electric transmission systems and transmission system planning processes. The candidate will perform transmission planning studies consisting of power flow, transient stability, transfer capability, and economic dispatch associated with congestion management scenarios. The candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work efforts with the project manager. Study efforts will require judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques for electric transmission system planning procedures and criteria. The candidate will perform work which involves conventional engineering practices, but may involve a variety of complex features in regards to electrical system power flows and stability. The candidate will be responsible for teaching and training less experienced engineers with regards to transmission planning studies and evaluations. Other duties as assigned.

* At least a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of experience as an electrical engineer following completion of the degree program. Alternatively, will also accept at least a master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of experience as an electrical engineer or as an advanced degree program research assistant or intern in electrical engineering, or related roles. Experience may be gained in a professional capacity, or as a student research assistant or intern before, during, or after an advanced degree program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
