Job Description

The Assistant Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer will assist either multi-disciplinary or controls-specific engineering teams in developing Instrument & Controls Engineering design packages and support maintenance of capital projects in a variety of locations.

* Assist in preparing control systems (DCS and/or PLC), Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and instrument specifications and procurement packages.
* Assist in designing control system logic and configuration, graphic interfaces, and Input/Output (I/O) lists.
* Assist in coordinating and managing all vendor I/O and instrument lists; coordinate I/O to determine partitioning of the control system hardware.
* Assist with control system upgrades and migrations.
* Assist in verifying and performing design calculations, project studies and report preparation.
* Assist with the preparation of instrumentation design deliverables, including Instrument List, Instrument Construction Specifications, Instrument Installation Details, and Instrument Location Plans.
* Assist in developing specifications and site study for design of systems; provide assistance with piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) design including instrumentation and related mechanical design.
* Assist in providing Instrument, I/O, and DCS electrical connection diagrams.
* Assist in evaluating technical bids and managing vendor contracts.
* Assist in reviewing and approving vendor drawings.
* Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests, control wiring design, and logic design.
* Assist with commissioning at project site.
* Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
* All other duties as assigned.
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from accredited program required.
* Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification recommended.
* Intern and/or related experience preferred.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
* Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
* Attention to detail.
* Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
* Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
