Job Description

Responsible for substation engineering services for electric utility clients in a design capacity across the United States. Projects will range in size, complexity and voltage class from small distribution equipment upgrades to large transmission programs. This position has the opportunity to influence the future of the resiliency and reliability of the electric grid. Applicants should be excited by the prospect of taking ownership of the most important and significant challenges the power industry has to offer. Design/project leadership, technical leadership and project management opportunities are available.

Assignments may include:

* Work with Senior Engineers and other team members to execute project deliverables and develop your career via peer learning.
* Prepare new and modify existing relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
* Design substations utilizing client approach including bill of materials, general arrangements, plans, sections and details, grounding plans, conduit plans, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, and cable lists.
* Prepare calculations and equipment specifications.
* Conduct feasibility studies and soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient, or when testing is advisable before installation.
* Coordinate design activities with other disciplines within the company, including civil/structural, telecommunications, overhead and underground transmission, etc.
* Prepare and provide input for project and individual schedules.
* Support proposals and engineering/project manhour estimates.
* Provide leadership, guidance, instruction and mentorship to less experienced team members.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited program.
* Minimum 1 year of related experience (completion of master's degree in related field, experience obtained in related field internships and coop assignments and/or power systems course work may be substituted for one year of experience).
* Familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Completion of FE Exam strongly preferred.
* Power systems specialty preferred.
* Prior experience working or internships preferred
* Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Capable of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures and criteria.
