Brown & Brown of MA is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Leader Trainee for our Southborough, MA office who will eventually be responsible for accounting operations and internal controls for our office and will report to the current Accounting Leader / Office Manager. This role will expose trainee to all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This is an ideal position for a recent college graduate.

This position will include extensive training on Brown & Brown accounting processes as well as specific business practices and methodologies of the company. The training period which is expected to take a minimum of 1 year will prepare the selected candidate to act as the Accounting Leader in one of our Profit Centers.

Responsibilities:

* Manage accounting operations including monthly close, management reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.
* Prepare financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by the corporate office.
* Develop, prepare, implement, and ensure compliance to internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting operations to align with corporate internal audit guidelines.
* Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
* Analyze financial details to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
* Primarily responsible for financial operations internal audits and ensure accounting operations are complaint with corporate guidelines.
* Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
* Other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies:

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or some accounting experience (Required)
* Computer skills must include intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
* Excellent written & verbal communication skills
* Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
* Ability to work independently and carry out assignments with minimum supervision
* Must possess a strong sense of urgency and willingness to hold yourself and others accountable
* Ability to absorb technical concepts quickly
* Must be a self-starter with good attention to detail and organizational skills

Salary Range: Negotiable
