Essential Functions

Secretary for Research Experience for Undergraduates and Teachers

* Assist with selection and admission to program of visiting students and teachers
* Arrange travel (including picking them up at the SLC Airport), housing, and reimbursements for participants
* Supply apartments with necessary furnishings before participant's arrival and clean up apartment after participant's departure
* Prepare welcome packets, orientation materials, access requests for keys, rooms and campus facilities for visiting students and teachers
* Plan functions while program participants are here (socials, trips, special classes, etc.)
* Compile and prepare reports for program and work with external reviewer on projects and reports related to the program
* Track spending to stay on budget
* Create and distribute recruiting materials yearly
* Manage program email, website, social media, and calendar of events
* Take pictures of events to document in department archives

Department Secretary

* Participate in setup, hosting, and clean-up of all department social events during the year
* Assist Department Chair, Administrative Assistant, and Business Manager as requested to keep the department running smoothly



* Required: one year previous office experience
* Preferred: Bachelor's degree and minimum one year previous office experience

Other Qualifications:

* Excellent computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Type 60 words per minute
* Strong organizational skills
* Good personal skills - punctual, dependable, able to follow directions, accurate, helpful, detail oriented
* Excellent public relations and communication skills (verbal and written)
* Experience with and understanding of BYU policies
* Ability to keep several projects moving forward at the same time and meet time sensitive deadlines
* Ability to work as a team member and independently
* Willing to learn new software applications as needed
