Job Description

Position Summary: As Test Engineer you will work in Briggs & Stratton's Power Products Group to support new product development and testing. This position will develop, implement and monitor testing for the Company's portable and standby generator products.
Job Responsibilities:

Create test standards for lab and field tests, and monitor results through proactive interaction and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders

Develop new methods to improve test quality, cost and efficiency

Develop and improve test processes, plans, and procedures

Develop and implement test plans (DVP&R) to ensure product designs meet customer requirements

Perform data analysis/root cause analysis on test results

Assist in the design and develop of automated test systems, including some software and hardware development

Lead, coach and mentor test technicians in product development and testing

Provide planning, direction, and coordination for testing activities while achieving optimum use of resources

Provide technical expertise to other areas as needed

Participates as a key contributor for new product development and testing

Job Skill Requirements:

Experience with single and three phase generators

Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to effectively communicate and promote teamwork

Strong statistical data analysis (Reliability Engineering) experience preferred

Ability to build, drive and encourage culture change and continual improvement

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and support multiple concurrent projects and key initiatives based on the business needs

Effective planning practices that result in maintained timelines and customer satisfaction

Ability to develop good working relationship with internal customers, contractors, and suppliers

Measures effectiveness of execution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring.

National Instruments hardware/software experience preferred (focus on LabVIEW)

Background or knowledge in battery technology and/or systems helpful

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of one year of professional engineering experience preferred

Previous co-operative education or internship experience is helpful
