Job Description

Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the following areas:

* Serving as office manager for the athletics department
* Assisting the Athletic Director in daily obligations, procedures, and planning
* Managing appointments and the AD's calendar on a consistent basis
* Responding to the needs of student-athletes
* Responding to needs of department staff
* Managing athletics insurance claims and making recommendations as needed
* Assisting with athletic campus events (i.e. Athletics Hall of Fame, etc.)
* Managing the reconciliation of credit card statements and other accounting responsibilities for the department
* Helping with Booster Club fundraising and procedures/policies to be consistent with University directives
* Planning/organizing department staff meetings and other department functions as requested
* Supporting the department as needed
* Adhering to university policies and procedures
* Responding to other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from a 4-year institution preferred. The candidate should have previous experience in an administrative role and be trained in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel.

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Normal environment found in an office and/or educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.

Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Some lifting and or carrying objects may be required. This position requires repetitive usage of arms, legs, eyes to include sitting to a significant degree.

Work Hours:

37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.

Special Requirements:

Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Credit checks may be performed on employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. Due to insurance requirements, employees operating university vehicles must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver's license, and good driving record. An MVR may be performed during the hiring process. All employees who operate university vehicles or who are employed in a sensitive position may be subject to post hire drug screening and random drug-screenings. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.
