Job Description

In supporting the Marketing and Communications Department, this intern will help define and tell the story of the BCPP’s work to a wide variety of audiences both internal and external. This Intern will develop content across multiple channels and mediums to support our science-based publications, programs, development, media and partnership work.

Who We Are
Breast Cancer Prevention Partners works to prevent breast cancer by eliminating our exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease. We translate science into practical actions people, policy makers and companies can take to protect us from toxic exposures. The people who work at BCPP are passionate about what we do and committed to excellent work done in a collaborative environment.


  • Identify both local, state and national influencers (journalists, experts, thought leaders, bloggers, social media influencers, key organizations, etc) by harnessing tools such as Meltwater.
  • Implement content strategies for email marketing, social media channels and website.
  • Think creatively to distill complex scientific information for our target audience.  
  • Research partnership opportunities with businesses and organizations.
  • Identify event opportunities for growth of business partnerships and strategic initiatives.


Qualifications and skills:

  • College sophomore or above in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to think creatively and present information visually.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in graphic design, video editing or multimedia storytelling a plus.
  • Photoshop, Adobe Suite, Excel, Wordpress, or Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Interest in environmental, health, toxics, or women’s issues.
  • Strong grasp of writing conventions and copy editing.


  • Salary: Unpaid.
  • Location: San Francisco office
  • Hours: Negotiable. Hours dependent on assigned projects and can be set according to the intern’s needs. We prefer a commitment of at least 12-16 hours/week for six weeks. Please include available hours and start date in your application.
  • Benefits: We are happy to work with academic departments to ensure the internship meets requirements for academic credit.
