Please review the following job description:

Receive calls and emails from clients and associates seeking information, guidance and education regarding retirement. Act as advocate for clients and educate them about retirement goals, products, rules/regulations, processes, options and platforms. In being an advocate for the client, identify, solicit, and coordinate the delivery of a broad range of financial products and services (e.g., Trust and Asset Management, Insurance, Investments, Deposits, Financial Plans) resulting in new and/or deeper relationships for associates, clients and prospects of BB&T. Responsible for engaging internal partners through outbound calling to educate them using formal presentations on the Retirement Resource Center services and capabilities. Additionally, responsible for working with clients to navigate and understand an on-line retirement and investment platform, aiding in account opening, funding and disclosures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve as the dedicated partner to BB&T associates and clients for providing expert retirement awareness and education through telephone-based conversations to determine client needs.

2. Conduct profiling and consultative discussions with BB&T associates, clients and prospects in order to assist with ascertaining retirement options, goals and objectives.

3. Have a deep understanding of retirement products, processes and platforms to educate clients on the best courses of action.

4. Seamlessly refer clients to various Integrated Relationship Management (IRM) partners across BB&T who will work with the client to deliver solutions focused on meeting the client's needs, goals and plans.

5. Work with clients to navigate and understand an on-line retirement and investment platform, aiding in account opening, funding and disclosures.

6. Uncover additional client needs by using every client contact as an opportunity to leverage BB&T's profiling model to discuss complementary services that could benefit the client.

7. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with IRM partners.

8. Give presentations to IRM partners about Retirement Readiness and the Retirement Resource Center.

9. Embrace the BB&T Decathlon Sales Process, which includes, but is not limited to, the delivery of the Perfect Client Experience Service Standards, support of the BB&T segmentation models, full use of the automated sales process and support of referral processes and guidelines.

10. Stay abreast of changing economic, regulatory, legal, financial planning and investment trends and general market and business issues impacting retirement.

11. Work within existing audit, compliance and regulatory framework to ensure high-quality education and guidance to clients.

12. Participate in the ongoing improvement and refinement of the BB&T brand, processes, products, services and operating policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Competencies:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training

2. Five years of experience in banking, investments, financial planning or insurance

3. Demonstrated high aptitude for client relationship management and business development or equivalent experience in outside sales and/or relationship management

4. Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn the following concepts through extensive training: retirement planning, retirement products, retirement processes, insurance products, working knowledge of fundamental deposit products, understanding of basic personal financial planning and working knowledge of investment concepts

5. Ability to work and thrive in a team-based environment and foster strong partnerships with associates and leaders across the BB&T organization

6. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a demonstrated aptitude for sales

7. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex topics in an understandable fashion

8. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

9. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Desired Skills:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Banking

2. Ten years of experience in banking, investments, financial planning or insurance

3. BB&T Leadership Development Program graduate

4. Bi-lingual ability

5. Experience using SalesForce.com in a day-to-day job function

6. Certified Financial Services Counselor, Certified Financial Planner or comparable designation, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC), Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP), Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC), Retirement Management Analyst (RMA)
