Job Description

Plumber - Journeyman

Salary Range: $25.92-$34.06 per hour. 

Nature of Work:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and within the framework of district policy, the Plumber is responsible for installation, alteration, and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems, fitting, and accessories in accordance with standard practices of the plumbing trade. Written or verbal assignments may be accompanied by sketches, penciled layouts or blueprints. Work is subject to inspection during progress and upon completion. Employee may supervise the work of helpers and others as assigned.

Responsibilities:

-Lays out, installs, maintains, and repairs standard plumbing equipment in water, gas oil, sewage, fire control, sprinkler, steam and refrigeration systems.
-Installs, alters, and replaces valves, faucets, traps, sinks, washbowls, sewer pipes, vents, and bathroom, kitchen or toilet fittings.
-Installs, alters, and replaces plumbing systems including the cutting, bending, threading, reaming, assembling, caulking, yarning, wiping and soldering of various pipes, fittings, joints, and valves.
-Repairs clogged sewers, basins, sink closets, and water coolers.
-Uses standard plumbing tools and power driven machines.
-Prepares estimates of material, time and labor, and may order supplies.
-May instruct, lead and supervise lesser skilled tradesmen.
-Performs related work as assigned or required.
-Available for after hours call out.

Qualifications:
Required:

-High school diploma or general educational development.
-Licensed by the State of Colorado as a Journeyman Plumber.
-Currently hold a valid Colorado Driver's License, must submit a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and must be insurable and maintain insurability per Colorado School Districts Self Insurance Pool (CSDSIP) standards.
-Five years of progressively responsible plumbing experience.
-Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools and materials of the plumbing trade.
-Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
-Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds; occasional dual-lifts of up to 100 pounds.
-Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.
-Ability to read, interpret, and work from rough sketches, drawing, and blueprints.
-Ability to make cost estimates of time and materials.

Preferred:

-Cross connection control technician.
-Master plumber.
