Facilitates the care of patients with minor illness. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) 1. Possession of a Colorado State Nurse Practitioner license. 2. National Nurse Practitioner Certification required. 3. Prescriptive authority required. 4. BLS certification required by the end of conditional period. Experience Three years of professional nursing experience in an emergency setting is required for new grad NP#s. Two years experience as NP preferred. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES 1. Urgent Care setting/physically demanding at times. Work pace determined by patient census and acuity level of patients. 2. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit. 3. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed). 4. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. Education

1. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and primary and urgent care.

2. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures

3. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments

4. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment

5. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide episodic patient care

6. Skills in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings

7. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence

8. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance

9. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.

10. Ability to maintain quality improvement and control

11. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

12. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures

13. Ability to communicate clearly

Experience

Three years of professional nursing experience in an emergency setting preferred

Two years experience as NP preferred
