In the Endoscopy division, we provide advance technologies for diagnosing and treating diseases of the digestive system, airway and lungs. Medical Conditions we provide solutions for include: Malignant & Benign Tumors, Gastrointestinal Diseases, Pulmonary Diseases, Gastrointestinal Cancers and Abscesses. We are able to provide a number of solutions to patients that include: Balloon Dilation, Stenting, ERCP/Cholangioscopy, Biliary, Biopsy and Polypectomy, Hemostasis, Radio Frequency Ablation and Enteral Feeding.  We have a robust product line and pipeline, and we will continue to make an investment in Endoscopy treatments.


The Equipment Automation Engineer will, own and drive the Technology Projects that aligns the approach to equipment and software design, specification, purchase, validation, ramp and end to end lifecycle management of the equipment sets. This role will support the Process Development department and will provide a hands on approach to the growth and development of S/W and Automation Strategy onsite. They will provide engineering support for new product lines with regards to Design, Specification, Procurement, Installation, Troubleshooting, Performance and Validation lifecycle of core technology to include but not limited to Welding, Laser Cutting and Marking, Robotics, Machine Vision and Bonding.


Key Responsibilities



  • Performs process design and development in such areas as mechanical, electrical, thermal, pneumatic, hydraulic, or heat transfer for production.
  • Applies automation experience to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, and/or machines.
  • Complete understanding and application of Engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies. Us modular approach to equipment design
  • Work is performed under general direction. Plan schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives.
  • Oversees and/or provides direction to other Engineering Peers and Technicians.
  • Reading mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Design using CAD (preferably SolidWorks).
  • Hands-on experience with complex electro manufacturing equipment and process debug.
  • Identify most appropriate options for implementing equipment to meet performance, cost, and time requirements (e.g. off-the-shelf vs. custom equipment).
  • Execute (or oversee supplier execution of) equipment development.
  • Execute (or oversee execution of) equipment software validation.
  • Build, debug, install, and otherwise deliver equipment to support Exploratory,TDP and PDP lifecycles.
  • Maintain an awareness of resources and specific equipment available at other BSC divisions as well as outside equipment suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with outside equipment suppliers.
  • Ensure conformance to Equipment & Automated Systems procedure, and is responsible for production of all deliverables including specifications, design reviews, design execution documentation (e.g. machine drawings), test plans, calibration and maintenance procedures, and installation qualifications.

Management Requirements

  • Not Applicable





  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years industry experience
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and Troubleshooting
  • Strong demonstrated experience in Innovative Design Principles
  • Strong demonstrated Electro/mechanical aptitude
  • SolidWorks design experience
  • Experience in Automation Technologies (Robotics, PLC, Vision, Motion, Sensing)
  • Equipment Design, Building & Machining; Equipment Maintenance; Tools (2D & 3D CAD, Statistics


  • Validation documentation and validation testing experience advantageous.
  • Medical Device or regulated industry preferred
