We are currently looking to recruit a Turnkey Rail System Bid Manager, a person that could be based in one of our locations: Derby or London, UK; Crespin, France; Johannesburg, South Africa; Hennigsdorf, Germany; Västerås, Sweden.

YOUR ROLE

As the Bid Manager, you will be tasked with planning, developing, implementing and managing all activities of proposal preparation and submission, including proposal strategies and the formulation of contract documents.

On each specific proposal, pre-qualification and/or expression of interest, you will take the Lead for the Bid team, working with the Sales Lead for that specific project.

You will, therefore, be managing teams of roughly 20 to 30 Bombardier staff based in various Bombardier sites and divisions around the world. In addition, you will often be a member of a consortium bid team and, therefore, may need to manage members from partner companies as well. Partners are often in other locations and typically other countries, which may require you to carry out many of the bid tasks from remote locations, or significant travel.

Your Tasks

- You will work with the Sales representatives to develop the winning strategy, bid schedule and target price for the opportunity and then execute that strategy in line with the required bid schedule timeline. You will have responsibility for product selection, external partner strategy and selection, competitor analysis and response plan, optimum legal structure, optimum financial structure and Free Cash Flow Profiles, optimum Operational set-up (PPP, BOT, EPC, etc.).
- You will be responsible to ensure target cost / price targets are met and a robust project execution schedule and risk mitigation plan is in place.
- You will lead the bid team through the bid governance process and secure all mandates in due time. You will lead the team through all gate reviews and product reviews, ensuring iterative approvals are secured in a timely manner throughout the tender period.
- You will be tasked with setting, managing and controlling the bid budget on specific proposals under management and obtain System Integration's senior management approval for any extensions of time, resources or additional funds to meet the proposal objectives and submission.
- You will overse the preparation of the Blue Book and Proposal submittal documentation ensuring the highest Quality standards are achieved in terms of presentation, aesthetics and completeness
- You will participate, from time-to-time and as appropriate within the guidelines and schedules for priorities on Systems bids, in Bid Enhancement Task Forces, Lessons Learned Teams and other Division-wide bodies for the purpose of improving our bid processes, cost control and effectiveness

Qualifications

- You possess a Bachelor Degree in Engineering/ Business Administration or equivalent.
- You possess very good project and time management skills with an emphasis on project financials (cost breakdown) and overall strong organizational abilities. You have a strong experience in bid management in a complex technical environment.
- You are working excellently with the Microsoft Office pack and are at least familiar with Primavera and FIDIC type Contracts (highly desirable)
- You are determined and creative, with a mind set on solving problems and building relations.
- You have a strong work ethic and are proficient in English.
- You are open to travelling internationally and you don't mind working under pressure and tight deadlines.
