We are currently looking to recruit a Fleet Support Engineering Manager (m/f) for our new project for South Western Railway

Location: London - Wimbledon

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Engineering Manager will be an integral part of the Services Execution functional management team and a key member of the Depot Core Team ensuring the key contract engineering deliverables are met.

With safety as a key objective he/she will be responsible to provide safe reliable trains into service in line with the current safety cases.

He/she will ensure that the project is adequately resourced to deliver the key business objectives and will be the Projects key interface with Fleet Support Engineering (the Engineering team responsible for all engineering issues except the first level of support in Depot) ensuring that a clear scope of work (with clear deliverables) will be in place.

Your Tasks

Assure engineering solutions to meet the customer requirements as part of the safety case and train presentation:

- CAPD (Change Approval Process Database) & ROP (Risk & Opportunity Portfolio) are clearly managed to support to give clarity to all project requirements
- Support the depot operations with incident management and reliability management enablers
- Fleet & Safety Check management control and governance
- Effective governance and close out of product safety issues
- Manage the request of the Depot (Services Execution) versus Fleet Support Engineering function

Support the identification and delivery of reliability improvements to meets contractual reliability targets:

- Use the resources available across operations to identify key reliability improvements to the fleet. Avoiding the mindset for additional and none valued maintenance and modifications
- Using the tools available demonstrate effective problem solving
- PDCA across all contracts (standardised reporting across the UK)

Improve the current maintenance regime looking for opportunities to reduce costs whilst keeping the full integrity and safety of train operations:

- Working alongside the Train Operation Companies (TOC's) to work as local partners to deliver essential cost savings
- Identifying the work packages and the defined scope and measurement for Central Engineering
- Working teams together Fleet Support Engineering to "Think out of the box" for PCP ideas for additional cost savings

People Management:

- Build organisational capability using all HR available processes, procedures and tools including: Selection and Recruitment, Performance Management, Development Plans, Talent Management, Succession Planning
- Identify and reduces the waste within the department across the sites and use the resources available to make the required savings
- Responsible for the employee engagement and delivering action plans that make a more effective and transparent work place.

Qualifications

- Engineering degree is a must, chartered status would be ideal
- Relevant technical experience in vehicle maintenance operations (such as rail or aerospace)
- Ideally people management experience - technical leadership or project management can also be considered
- Experience with structured problem solving methodologies
- Change management experience
- Knowledge of a Maintenance Management System (e.g. Maximo, SAP)
- Ability to communicate at a professional and technical level with the customer and senior management
- Strong customer orientation
