Located in Pittsburgh, PA, we are hiring a Principal Network Engineer to design and implement wireless communication networks across multiple sites for buildings, wayside access points, and rail vehicles. This individual will manage communications system design, lead teams, and troubleshoot complex, interconnecting networks. The Principal Network Engineer will design, test, and commission communication systems that include various technologies in the fields of networking, WLANs, RF transmission, CCTV, public address audio, signage, and telephones.

In your role you will:

- Design communication systems and subsystems using off the shelf components based on customer requirements.

- Prepare and review technical requirements for wireless network performance, electrical installation, and fiber design/installation;

- Design, troubleshoot, and commission wireless networks, RF systems, VoIP telephones, Public Address audio, digital signage, and CCTV systems;

- Establish and maintain technical support relationships with vendors;

- Troubleshoot, commission, and test workgroup-class and larger data networks;

- Develop and present design review packages to project management and the customer;

- Oversee technical deliverables to ensure schedule and quality of work are maintained, including installation design, configuration management, reliability and quality;

- Develop test procedures utilized for commissioning systems;

- Ensure design addresses proper physical interface with the civil and electrical works;

- Prepare estimates to complete work tasks and monitor engineering progress against budget/schedule;

- Monitor engineering progress against budget throughout project duration;

- Complete all other projects and duties as assigned.


As our ideal candidate:

- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Networking or related discipline; a Master's degree will be considered an asset;

- You possess at least ten (10) years of experience in a Telecom/Network/Wireless Networks role;

- You demonstrate knowledge and experience working with LAN/WAN systems, wired communication, wireless communication and associated applications for network monitoring and control;
- Technical knowledge of Cisco Systems and other Networking Technology Systems is required;
- CCNA, CCNP or CCDP certifications are an assett;
- You possess strong organizational and prioritization skills;
- You can operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;
- You demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated;
- You adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment;
- Your written and verbal English communication skills are excellent

The incumbent in this position must be able to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 15%) as required.
