The present opening provides a unique growth opportunity to gain experience and develop your skills by working at the intersection of technology, business and law within Canada's leading research and development company. In your role, you will report to the Director, Intellectual Property and provide direct legal support for the Product Development Engineering, Aerospace ("PDE") client group.

In your role, you will:

- Assist and / or lead the negotiation, drafting and review of various contracts with external research and development collaborators, including non-disclosure agreements, fee-for-service agreements, collaborative research agreements, university chairs, research consortia agreements, and other similar documents
- Interface with engineering and development team personnel to help refine and focus statements of work and project descriptions, and to establish intellectual property and licensing frameworks for external R&D interactions
- Create and maintain template agreements, as well as internal procedures and processes for the execution, administration and management of PDE contractual documents
- Assist and / or lead the negotiation, drafting and review of various technology or intellectual property centric contractual documents, including data license agreements and technology transfer and licenses agreements
- Provide specialized intellectual property and licensing advice and counsel in support of commercial transactions
- Participate in training of colleagues and client groups on the topics of law, contracts, technology licensing and intellectual property


As our ideal candidate,

- You are a practicing member of the Bar of at least one Canadian Province or one U.S. State, including preferably the Québec Bar
- You have 3 to 7 years of experience involving technology transactions and licensing
- You have previous academic or work experience related to, or a strong personal interest in, science and technology
- You are self-motivated and have good organizational skills, you are methodical and detail-oriented, you possess strong computer skills, you are a team player and your communication and interpersonal skills allow you to interact and influence all levels of management
- You are able to work effectively in both French and English
The following will be considered as an asset to your application:

- Having a civil law and a common law degree
- Having an Engineering or Science degree and/or experience in the aerospace field
- Being registered as a patent agent with the Canadian, U.S. or European Patent Office
