We are currently looking to recruit an Propulsion Engineer (m/f), based at our engineering site in Derby


The Propulsion Engineer is meant to facilitate the interface between the Rolling Stock Equipment organization (Propulsion Product and Engineering) and Bombardier Transportation regional organization, acting on behalf of the Propulsion Product and Engineering team whilst located on the main order project site.

S/he ensures that the Rolling Stock Equipment organization (Propulsion Product and Engineering) are aware of main order project status and expectations towards the team and that the decisions taken with regard to the propulsion system integration are feasible and rational.

By early involvement in bids, the Propulsion Engineer can contribute by sharing knowledge on standard systems' characteristics, constraints and flexibility. In collaboration with the Propulsion Advance Engineer, the Embedded engineer can influence the initial key requirements towards Propulsion, supporting flawless execution of future projects.


To interface with Vehicle Engineers, Specialist Engineers and other Rolling Stock Equipment Engineers on main order project site, to ensure:

- Propulsion products and systems are fitting the requirements
- Influence other Bombardier design areas to allow for high re-use and cost optimized solutions of Propulsion products and systems
- Align planning of engineering deliverables towards the other Bombardier functions and the customer
- Represent Propulsion engineering on Bombardier main project site, in engineering related meetings and activities
- Align requirements and expectations with Propulsion project organization in Sweden

To act as an ambassador. This includes but is not limited to:

- Engaging in creating a positive and result oriented atmosphere between Bombardier main order site team and Propulsion team
- Identifying and addressing interface gaps and/or overlaps of executional, organizational, scope or other nature
- Addressing obstacles to flawless project execution as they arise


- Technical Bachelor or Master Degree
- Background in the rail, aerospace, defence or automotive industry
- Knowledge of technical requirements management
- Full understanding of the engineering V-cycle
- Knowledge and experience in propulsion system design combined with vehicle level design is preferred
- Very good English language skills, both written and spoken
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork
- Good problem solving skills
