Procurement Commercial Manager (m/f)

role in Hennigsdorf, Germany


The Procurement Commercial Manager supports and provides guidance to Procurement concerning contractual issues involving Purchase Contracts (e.g. the placement of major Purchase Contracts, supplier non-conformity and variation order requests) and leads the preparation of major claims involving suppliers.
The Procurement Commercial Manager is responsible to proactively identify value adding opportunities for BT to improve projects' scope, delivery schedule, revenues and margin through effective management of contracts and the implementation of variation order and change management processes. He or she prepares the strategy for variation orders and claims and co-leads negotiations.
The Procurement Commercial Manager is responsible to co-ordinate, prepare, execute major supplier claims across projects.
The Procurement Commercial Manager will ensure the processes for supplier claims are performed in alignment with BT processes. He or she will work in further enhancing those processes..


- Align within the core team of the relevant projects to define and implement major supplier claims in alignment with all relevant projects and Procurement. Support and lead the realisation of supplier claims within defined time frame.
- Lead the management of supplier Claims in accordance with the Claim Management process by devising effecting claim preparation and negotiation strategies including the bundling and alignment of supplier claims across projects.In close co-operation with Contracts & Legal, support and provide guidance to Procurement concerning the placement of major Purchase Contracts to ensure back-to-back coverage with customer contract is achieved or proper mitigation actions are put in place for any remaining gaps.
- Support and monitor the ongoing commercial management of the Purchase Contracts once placed (e.g. supplier non-conformity and variation order requests).
- Establish guidelines for supplier contract closure in close co-operation with the project commercial managers.
- Establish and ensure robust supplier non-conformity claim process in collaboration with Procurement, Quality, Finance and Operations.
- Support bids in feeding back lessons learnt from supplier claims in the bid process.
- Actively take part in internal and external meetings e.g.: project review, claim review board, ROP review, supplier claim negotiations etc.
- Develop a network with other commercial managers to ensure close co-operation and collaboration


- Preferably a degree in either Business, Engineering, Law or Quantity Surveying or a combination of these.
- Tertiary qualification and commercial / operational experience and post graduate commercial qualifications are well regarded.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in relevant role (either in Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, Contracts, Bids or Sales)
- Experience in working in a multicultural environment
- Experience in project execution, procurement and/or claim management is desirable.
- Proven track record in commercial management in a complex business environment, ideally in similar business areas (e.g. railways, construction, oil & gas, technology, energy)
- Business fluent level of both English and German languages.
