Bombardier's facility at Crewe is the company's Centre of Excellence for Component Repair and Overhaul (CRO) services in the UK. The facility has achieved near perfect execution in terms of cost, quality and delivery for the past years. The Crewe facility focuses its services on overhauls of wheelsets, bogies, AC and DC motors, as well as rewinds of DC motors. Larger contracts will also see overhaul work for items such as pantographs, compressors and other ancillary components, while engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.

We are currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer Team Leader (m/f) based in the Crewe, United Kingdom.

POSITION SUMMARY

To successfully lead the maintenance team, ensuring best practice is achieved in H&S and Legal compliance whilst further developing individuals to meet the needs of the business day to day, also to ensure that the introduction of new technologies within the facility are maintained correctly.

To ensure that all equipment within the facility is maintained with particular emphasis on the new equipment being maintained to a higher standard along with having the ability to be able to root cause issues as and when they occur and apply corrective actions to ensure they do not reoccur.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES AND CHALLENGES

- The day-to-day management of 6 experienced Maintenance Engineers;

- HSE responsibility for the maintenance team and their actions, ensuring work is safely carried out at all times in accordance with Bombardier Transportation policies;

- Interaction with Production Managers regarding equipment issues;

- Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems - 8D/PPS;

- Investigating and proposing permanent solutions regarding equipment issues ensuring there is no re-occurance;

- Managing the apprentice intake and ensuring an appropriate training plan is in place and executed;

- Involvement with onsite project teams regarding new equipment installations;

- Where applicable, ensure training is provided and all required skill sets are available;

- Produce and manage KPI's for the team.

Qualifications

- It is required a good understanding in both electrical and mechanical disciplines, favouring electrical and possessing 17th edition wiring regulations;

- Also PLC or Automation experience is required;

- Experience of coordinating an existing maintenance function within a similar heavy engineering environment;

- Understands Maintenance processes and tools along with IT-Systems;

- Knowledge of maintenance disciplines and machinery & equipment in an Engineering repair and overhaul environment;

- Technical education;

- Good communication skills, drive for results and demonstrates good leadership and teamwork.
