We are looking for highly skilled and experienced people to build the technology platform for Bombardier Transportation's future, for our site in Derby, and, are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Chance and Configuration Team Lead to join our Vehicle Engineering team.

Role

As Engineering Chance and Configuration Team Lead your primary responsibility will be to enforce the engineering focus on the Change and Configuration process for each project and Product Family on the site.

Your key areas of accountability will be:

1. Ensuring Engineering progress on change analysis, change implementation and baseline completion. This includes the organization of the needed meetings and boards within engineering and the alignment with the product engine team

2. Providing instructions, data structures and templates for engineering work products needed to address CM needs

3. Assessing the information fed from engineering on changes and baselines with regards to the expected level of quality and accuracy.

4. Providing status and current configuration data to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities and Challenges:

- Ensure that committed Engineering Configurations to the project are documented and achieved within time, quality and budget and in line with legislation and safety standards

- Establish, maintain and improve interfaces with other relevant functions (Project Management, Procurement, Operations) and external stakeholders.

- Management and development of relevant skills within Configuration Management Team (workforce planning, performance management, career development, succession planning and recruitment)

- Continuous improvement of Configuration Management processes/ tools/ behaviors by taking into account business requirements, customer needs, technical innovations, and new market conditions.

- Development of configuration management approach for early product design phases which caters for both variant management as well as requirements from later phases in the product lifecycle, specifically from production and maintenance.

Qualifications

- BSc/ MSc degree in Engineering and CMII or similar certifications are advantageous.

- Good understanding of engineering development and relevant product design change and release activities.

- Basic understanding of railway product life-cycle and roles of the different stakeholders involved.

- Relevant experience working with Configuration & Change Management tools.

- Ability to work easily with requirements, analysis and documentations and very good problem solving skills.

- Proven leadership skills and experience.

- A clear track record of working across function, with different customers and suppliers.

- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.

- Flexible and self-driven personality.

- Fluent English skills.
