Rail Control Solutions (RCS) is a world leader in developing, engineering and installing rail control and signalling safety systems, products and services. RCS enables the safe and efficient operation of rail networks and trains.

Overview
Bombardier Transportation Rail Control Solutions offers a comprehensive portfolio of products and solutions in the field of railway signalling. Engineering and product development are one of the core competencies and activities, and therefore Research & Development represent a substantial investment every year. In order to promote technological development in railway signalling while sharing mutual benefits of R&D programs, Bombardier engages in cooperation with public research institutes and funds on international and national levels.
The potential of big data is the Internet of Things (IoT), which is the internet of sensors. Sensors are placed everywhere in our daily lives. The data captured contain valuable information. A big data approach will enable Bombardier, along with data scientists, to fully unlock the value in the data. Bombardier wants to investigate how low-cost sensor networks combined with low cost access to cloud computing can impact the business.
Increasing requirements for real-time processing and storing of the collected data are sharply climbing up the need for a powerful and scalable high-performance computing and massive storage infrastructure. The integration of sensor networks with cloud computing and big data is very attractive sensor networks.

Purpose of the project
With the broad use of mobile sensing applications, more and more location-embedded data are collected and stored in clouds.

Qualifications

Your qualifications
- Strong Software Engineering Background;
- Master degree in Computer Science or Engineering field;
- Basic Tools knowledge (eg. R or Python) and database querying language (eg. SQL);
- Knowledge of Statistics (Analytical skill set) and Multivariable calculus and linear Algebra (Algorithms);
- Efficient sensor data dissemination;
- Problem solving skills, Proactive attitude;
- English at a business fluent level is mandatory.
