Job Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Environmental Health Safety and Security (EHSS) Department located at our St Joseph, Missouri Production and R&D facility. As an Intern, you will gain valuable experience collaborating with and assisting site EHSS professionals to build and maintain a strong EHSS culture based on site hazards and risks. This internship will provide the opportunity to assist in the preparation for Corporate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) audits, Corporate Biosafety audits, and bi-weekly EHS training presentations. There will also be opportunities to review Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), EHS programs/training modules, as well as the scheduling and coordinating of confined space entry and rescue training. Assistance with the management of hazardous waste will also provide valuable experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Assist in the preparation for corporate EHS and Biosafety audits.
* Assist in the preparation of bi-weekly EHS training materials.
* Assist in the review of SDSs, programs, training modules and exams.
* Assist in the scheduling and coordinating of confined space entry and rescue training.
* Assist with the management of hazardous waste.
* Assist with various task required to maintain regulatory compliance.

Requirements:

* Must be an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Professional Student in good academic standing.
* Must have completed 12 credit hours within a related major and/or other related coursework.
* Overall, cumulative GPA (from last completed quarter) must be at least 3.000 (on 4.0 scale) or better (No rounding up).
* Major must be related to the field of internship.

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

* Must be a self-starter, requiring minimal supervision.
* Must be flexible, able to work indoors or outdoors performing hands-on tasks.
* Must be able to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
* Prefer someone interested in becoming an EHS professional.
* Prefer someone attending a university recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Qualified Academic Program.

Eligibility Requirements:

* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
* Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
* Must be 18 years of age or older
