Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Departmental Assistant provides administrative support and assists in the daily operational workflow of the department.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.


* Operate phone console and effectively respond to multiple incoming calls.


* Expected to have intermediate computer and internet skills and be able to use software utilized by the department.


* Demonstrate a good working knowledge of CMS/AHCA/OSHA/The Joint Commission regulations for patient care and documentation.


* Assist in scheduling meetings or appointments when requested.


* Order departmental supplies as necessary.


* Assist with daily work flow.


* Responsible for distributing all mail.


* Type memos, reports, and letters for department leaders.


* Assist with the employee application and hiring process as necessary.


* Answer all incoming telephone calls, take messages, triage, and redirect those that cannot be immediately answered.


* Welcome visitors to the department and serve as the immediate departmental presence for entry into the department.


* Record and send correspondence and notify employees when necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)


* Six months to one year scheduling experience.
* Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.
* The person in this position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.

Current employees must receive the influenza prevention vaccination free of charge during the recognized flu season.
