We are currently seeking an MBA summer intern to support our Research and Development Finance Team, which sits within corporate finance. The R&D Finance team partners closely with Biogen R&D teams to manage spend on ongoing operations spanning early discovery research to late-stage clinical trial execution. We also plan for future R&D investments that will expand the Biogen portfolio and ultimately yield important new therapies for patients worldwide. The role(s) will be based in Cambridge, MA.

The MBA Intern will be responsible for completing project(s) that deal with business planning and capital allocation issues at the R&D level. These project(s) will provide the Intern exposure to business leaders and cross-functional areas. Participants will be expected to demonstrate in-depth analytical skills with an emphasis on value creation as well as the ability develop a working understanding of a multi-faceted science-based organization. The participant will be required to work independently as well as in a team environment. Assignments will be based on business needs as well as candidate experience and interest.

The ideal candidate will have experience conducting robust financial analysis, communicating insights in a way that is actionable to senior leadership, aligning strategies with key stakeholders, and working across complex matrix organizations. This role is highly cross-functional and will report to a Senior Manager in R&D Finance.

Key responsibilities will vary based on the intern's project, but examples may include:

* Examining R&D resource allocation over the past five years, determining what has driven resource allocation in the past (i.e., program growth, investments in capabilities, etc.) and developing recommendations for how to optimally manage R&D resource allocation moving forward.
* Supporting the execution of the R&D Annual Operating Planning process
* Partnering with key stakeholders to across the R&D organization to help develop and align broad Biogen strategic plans


* 3-5 years in financial and/or consulting environments with some exposure to scientific or technical subject matter
* Experience developing robust quantitative analysis and communicating that analysis in a succinct, compelling way
* Experience supporting the development of operational strategies that align to company mission and vision
* Experienced, hands-on project manager adept at establishing processes, creatively solving problems, facilitating cross functional teams, and managing through significant ambiguity and complexity
* Exceptional strategic thinker and thought leader, with strong leadership, collaboration and influence skills
* Highly motivated, resourceful, results-oriented individual
* Ability to work at all levels of the company, including with senior leaders
* Basic understanding of the drug development process and working knowledge of the essential

activities for all key functional areas

* Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

* B.A./B.Sc. required; in related field preferred (business, science, technology)
* Enrolled in an accredited MBA Program with graduation planned for 2020
* Concentration in Finance, Strategy and/or Healthcare Management is preferred
