Job Title: Academic Coordinator #2

Job Summary: This position assists with managing the day to day office operations within the Office of Student Athlete Services for Academics. Annual evaluations of this position must be done in accordance with stated university and NCAA rules.

Essential Functions:

* Monitor academic success of assigned student-athletes through meetings with students, study hall attendance, use of tutoring resources, and progress reports from faculty.
* Advise student-athletes in identifying appropriate majors and scheduling courses, while ensuring that course schedules are balanced and fit the time and season constraints of student-athletes.
* Evaluate student's academic skills and aid in the development of an academic plan including providing study skill techniques, time management and related academic information to students.
* Assist students with receiving services and resources available from our office (textbooks, tutoring, class materials, etc.)
* Interact and consult with college academic advisors, faculty, and college administrators regarding student-athletes' course scheduling and other appropriate academic issues/concerns
* Monitor and track NCAA, MEAC conference, and institutional eligibility
* Provide academic, career and personal guidance and support to students
* Educate student-athletes on NCAA rules/eligibility and personal responsibility
* Make appropriate referrals to campus resources when necessary
* Meet regularly with the Office of Student-Athlete Support staff and Compliance personnel regarding student progress, eligibility, and rules education
* Meet regularly with coaches and keep all informed of students' progress, class and tutor appointment attendance, progress reports, and completion of other assigned activities
* Provide academic information to prospective student-athletes and parents during official and unofficial recruiting visits -
* Assist with the development of materials to enhance programs and services
* Coordinate Academic Support's Laptop and Electronics Checkout Exchange (LECE) Program
* Coordinate, recruit ,and train volunteers for the Tutoring Program
* Coordinate and monitor study hall
* Monitor Grades First to be aware of who logs in and out of the lab
* Conduct and report class checks
* Participate in relevant campus projects as assigned
* Support the athletic department, team, and students commitment to excellence in athletics, academics, personal growth, campus & community service, and career development
* Maintain staff confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops , reviewing professional publications ,and establishing personal networks
* Maintain student confidentiality at all times

Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services/Academics.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelors 'degree in those same fields with a minimum of one (1)

year of related experience .

Preferred Qualification & Experience: Master's degree in appropriate area of study and two (2) or more years of related experience in intercollegiate athletics administration. Working knowledge, and experience with, applicable NCAA legislation. Previous experience as a student athlete, compliance officer or a coach in a NCAA Division I program preferred.
